The serial number on the base is S/N 8X0066138, and says it is a SLEH-00201 manufactured by Namtai for Sony. So, driver time - this should work with the Macam PS3 Eye driver, although they do warn about high bandwidth needs. According to a discussion thread on MacRumors it is possible. How to update

You can update the system software of the PS3 system by any of the methods described below.

Use an update file contained on a game disc to update the system.

The following things are needed to perform the update:

This update method can be used if your PS3 system is not connected to the Internet. Download the update file to your computer, and then save it on a USB storage device. Copy the saved file to the system storage of your PS3 system to update the system.
